How is Eye Pressure Treatment?

There are different methods developed for the treatment of eye pressure. One of these is a laser treatment method known as SLT Treatment. Eye pressure is a condition in which the fluid in the eye has a higher pressure than normal. This condition can cause vision loss by affecting the optic nerve. SLT Treatment aims to reduce eye pressure by increasing the drainage of the fluid in the eye. With this very effective and very safe method, the patient’s high intraocular pressure can be reduced up to 30%. The procedure is completed within minutes and starts to show its effect in a short time.

Who is SLT Treatment Suitable for?

It is usually applied to people with eye pressure that cannot be controlled with eye drops or other medicated treatments. It may also be an option for people who are not suitable for surgical intervention for eye pressure. SLT Treatment is a comfortable treatment that every glaucoma patient who has been previously diagnosed with glaucoma (eye pressure), whether or not they have used medication, can safely choose. However, your ophthalmologist will determine the most appropriate treatment for your eye.

Eye pressure is often asymptomatic; it does not cause stinging, pain, redness or dizziness. It is only when the patient comes to an eye examination that he/she realises that he/she has eye pressure. The most important feature of this condition is the possibility of irreversible permanent damage to the eye. Therefore, it is very important to have regular eye examinations and closely monitor your eye health.

Laser in Eye Pressure – SLT Treatment Prices

Laser (SLT) treatment prices for eye pressure vary depending on the underlying cause, the operation to be performed, the special examination and detailed measurements to be performed on your eye. The treatment plan to be created by our specialist ophthalmologist depending on the detailed examination results may vary from person to person.

The above information is for informational purposes. If you have any medical concerns or questions, please make an appointment with our ophthalmologists.

Frequently Asked Questions

SLT (Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty) is a laser treatment to reduce eye pressure. This treatment aims to reduce intraocular pressure by increasing the drainage of fluid in the eye. Eye pressure can damage the optic nerve and cause vision loss.

In SLT treatment, the laser beam is applied to the trabecular meshwork in the front of the eye. This laser beam reduces eye pressure by allowing the fluid in the eye to drain more easily. The procedure is completed in minutes and the effect is soon visible.

SLT treatment is generally suitable for people with eye pressure (glaucoma) that cannot be controlled with eye drops or medication. It is also an effective alternative treatment method for patients for whom surgical intervention is not recommended.

The recovery process after SLT treatment is very fast. Most patients can return to their normal life immediately after treatment. However, the decrease in eye pressure becomes evident within a few days.

SLT treatment is generally suitable for people with eye pressure problems. However, suitability for treatment is determined after examination by the ophthalmologist.
